On February 7, AARP presented a $100,000 Legacy Award to McKinley Technology High School. See Journal below. On stage for the presentation were AARP DC Director Mimi Castaldi, DC Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee, DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, McKinley Principal David Pinder, AARP DC President Denise Rolark Barnes, McKinley student Thandi Burrell, AARP CEO Bill Novelli and Ward 5 Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr.
