Cabot AARP Chapter 3267 members celebrated AARP?s Day of Service on May 8th. The day began with visits to Spring Creek Nursing Center and Cabot Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, both in Cabot. About 25 AARP volunteers sang old gospel tunes with the residents at both centers. Residents also volunteered to sing their favorites with other residents and volunteers singing. Billie Dougherty, one of the AARP volunteers, said, ?I know a great many of them from my weekly visits and can call them by name which gets them very interested. It was a lovely and emotional day for all of us.?
The day ended with a visit to City Hall where Mayor Eddie Joe Williams signed a petition declaring May 8th as AARP Day of Community Service in Cabot. He commended us for the active chapter we have, and the different things we do in the city -collectively and individually--to make Cabot a better city in which to live.
