NRTA and Curriki: Sharing Lesson Plans that Work
NRTA: AARP’s Educator Community has joined forces with Curriki, a non-profit open-source curriculum repository, to bring high-quality learning resources to students around the world. Curriki makes it easy for active and retired educators to easily contribute educational tools and resources that can be shared with teachers and students — all at no cost!
Join this new online community to share lesson plans that work!
AARP's educator-members will help expand and develop Curriki's collection of high-quality content. Educators will vet and screen the content of submissions for accuracy and appropriateness for educational application. Current offerings range from lesson plans, assessments and media clips to complete textbooks, all available at no cost. These resources support teachers, schools, and students worldwide.
Originally founded by Sun Microsystems, Curriki is now an independent non-profit organization. The collaboration between Curriki and AARP will bring together educators who are subject matter experts to share their curriculum, review content curricula, and help train teachers. By working closely with other experts in the United States and abroad, the collaborative effort ensures that the Curriki resources and materials will meet educational standards in each country. And the collaboration's activities support the challenging United Nations Millennium goal of guaranteeing an education for every child worldwide by 2015.
