Targeting America's Coveted 50+ Demographic, AARP The Magazine Announces 2007 Road Show Schedule

- Expands “Faces of 50+ Real People Model Search” -

AARP The Magazine, the world's largest circulation magazine, is gearing up for its sixth annual Road Show, targeting the 50+ demographic at festivals, fairs and other unique lifestyle events in key markets around the country. Beginning June 1, 2007, with the Taste of Charlotte (SC) food festival and concluding at the Denver Marathon on October 13, 2007, this 8-city tour brings marketers face to face with thousands of consumers actively participating in a wide range of food, fitness, and arts events.

"The Road Show reaches the most powerful buying demographic-the Boomers and 50+ market-and provides marketers an opportunity for personal interaction with our readers in a variety of settings," said Jim Fishman, VP/Group Publisher, AARP Integrated Media Sales. "The 50+ market boasts $2 trillion in disposable income and is especially interested in travel, entertainment, health, fitness, and family."

The Road Show ( offers advertisers an integrated marketing program that delivers fun, interactive events including sweepstakes, product sampling, prize giveaways, free health screenings and massages, cooking demos, games and more. The 2007 AARP The Magazine Road Show boasts 26 sponsors, including Dove pro·age, Princess Cruises, Hertz, Pringles, Del Webb and Kellogg's Smart Start.

An increasingly popular component of the Road Show is the Faces of 50+ Real People Model Search, in which AARP The Magazine looks for between five and ten Faces of 50+ in age groups 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. The Faces of 50+ Real People Model Search gives vivacious, active men and women over the age of 50 the chance to model for AARP The Magazine simply by submitting a photo. This year AARP The Magazine will allow online registration for the first time at to allow more Americans the opportunity to enter, which will be available on June 1, 2007.

Also new this year, the 2007 Model Search will culminate with a "Readers' Choice" program, where readers will vote for their favorite Face of 50+ from a list of finalists online. The Readers' Choice and editor-selected "Faces" will be flown to New York City for a photo shoot and appear in a 2008 issue of AARP The Magazine.

  • Quik Chek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning: July 27-29 in Whitehouse Station, NJ
  • Illinois State Fair: August 11-12 in Springfield, IL
  • Minnesota State Fair: September 1-3 in St. Paul, MN
  • Denver Marathon Expo: October 12-13 in Denver, CO
