Coretta Scott King Tribute

The King Family
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for
Nonviolent Social Change
449 Auburn Avenue
Atlanta, GA 30312

To the Family of Coretta Scott King:

We are deeply saddened by the loss of a shining beacon that lit the way toward justice for all people and a society in which all men, women and children could reach their full potential. Coretta Scott King was that beacon. We are blessed to have lived in her time. To millions of people around the world, she was a friend. She was an inspiration. She was a bastion of courage in the face of adversity. She was a strong and reasoned voice in often troubled time. We join our AARP members and freedom-loving citizens around the world in mourning the loss of a truly remarkable woman whose legacy will shine brightly for generations yet unborn.

Sincerely,

Marie Smith
President, AARP
