AARP CEO APPOINTED TO SERVE ON PRESIDENTIAL ADVISORY COUNCIL ON FINANCIAL CAPABILITY
WASHINGTON—AARP CEO A. Barry Rand released the following statement following his appointment today to serve on the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability. Rand was one of 12 new members announced today to the Council, which will be comprised of leaders representing consumers, educators and financial services providers and others. Rand’s statement follows:
“AARP believes that increasing financial literacy and including plain language in financial forms and documents is critical to ensuring long-term financial security. We simply cannot expect Americans to take control of their financial situation without arming them with the necessary tools.
“My appointment to this Council is a reflection of AARP’s years of dedicated work, with people and groups across the political spectrum, to improve financial literacy for all Americans. The President’s Advisory Council is drawn from leaders representing consumers, educators, and the business community. On behalf of AARP’s members and all older Americans, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve on this Council to help all Americans turn financial security from a dream to a reality.”
