AARP’s My Generation Host Leeza Gibbons Wins Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Host in a Lifestyle/Travel Program

WASHINGTON–My Generation host Leeza Gibbons has won a Daytime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Host in a Lifestyle/Travel Program. The coveted Emmy®, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, recognizes excellence in television and is universally acknowledged as the highest honor in the industry.

In her 30-year television career, this is the first Emmy® win as host for Gibbons.

My Generation, a weekly lifestyle series produced by AARP, covers some of the most unique stories from around the globe and public figures that are finding purpose in their lives beyond celebrity and stardust. My Generation guests have included Elton John, Martina Navratilova, Desmond Tutu, Clint Eastwood, Madeline Albright, Denyce Graves and Valerie Bertinelli among others.

“My Generation is a show for the curious who want to get more out of life –adventure, personal wellness and passion,” said Gibbons. “I have enjoyed working with AARP to go behind the scenes with some of the world’s most intriguing people and their inspiring lives. Whatever inspiration our viewers need to explore new possibilities and take on life in their own way- that’s My Generation.”

Gibbons, one of the most recognizable faces on television, began hosting My Generation in 2010. She burst onto the national scene as an anchor and reporter for Entertainment Tonight and later became host and Executive Producer of her own daytime talk show LEEZA, which debuted in 1994 and aired nationally through 2000. Receiving nominations for both Outstanding Talk Show and Outstanding Talk Show Host every year it was eligible, LEEZA garnered 27 Daytime Emmy Nominations, winning three.

Under Executive Producer David Pepper, the My Generation staff is comprised of an outstanding team of top contributors and award-winning veteran producers (Emmy®, Peabody, DuPont and Edward R. Murrow). My Generation is produced by AARP in association with Maryland Public Television and is available on more than 300 public television stations and RLTV.

2013 Daytime Emmy® awardees were announced on June 14th in Los Angeles.
