AARP Board Member Appointed to Medicare
Payment Advisory Commission
WASHINGTON— AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond released this statement following today’s announcement that William J. Hall, MD, a geriatrician and member of AARP’s Board of Directors, has been appointed to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC):
“We applaud Dr. Hall’s appointment to MedPAC, which comes at a critical time as many in Congress seek harmful cuts to Medicare.
“As a geriatrician, Dr. Hall has seen and helped thousands of patients, and has developed a deep knowledge of the needs of older people. As a member of AARP’s Board, he has traveled the country connecting with older Americans. His dedication to helping them will strengthen the voice of the consumer in MedPAC’s work and benefit the millions served by Medicare.
“We congratulate Dr. Hall as he embraces this important new opportunity to continue his life’s work as a champion for the health of older people. He is a true advocate for older Americans, and he will make valuable contributions to the work of the Commission.”
