AARP and Wiley Team Up for New Book Publishing Relationship

WASHINGTON – AARP and John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (JWa, JWb) today announced a new relationship to create AARP-branded titles targeted to the interests of AARP members. Topics include subjects ranging from personal finances and health to travel, food, and technology.   Helping people 50+ live their best lives will be a common theme in the program.  The first titles to be published will be released in print and ebook formats in early 2012.

“We’re thrilled to team up with Wiley and eager to relaunch the AARP Books Program,” said Cathy Ventura-Merkel, Senior Vice President, AARP Publications. “Wiley brings more than 200 years of experience in creating and delivering books across traditional print and new digital platforms that will help us take the AARP Books program to a new level of relevance, digital access, and excellence.”

“Wiley is very happy to be working with AARP to publish branded titles across a broad variety of categories,” said Larry Olson, Vice President and Marketing Director, Wiley.  “We also know that AARP’s audience is expecting to receive content in various formats, which Wiley can deliver.”

This announcement comes after an extensive search to find a new publisher for AARP’s book program. With its long-standing history of excellence and focus on the areas most relevant to AARP’s membership, Wiley is well-suited to provide value to the 50+ audience.
