AARP Statement on Senate Vote to Invoke Cloture on Financial Reform Bill

WASHINGTON – AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond issued the following statement in response to today’s successful Senate vote to invoke cloture on financial regulatory reform:

“AARP is encouraged that the Senate has brought us one step closer to finishing a bill that will help millions of American consumers who have been negatively impacted by a broken financial system.  The time is now to restore their faith that the financial industry should work for them, not against their interests.

“Older Americans of all political backgrounds and walks of life have waited too long for Congress to change an outdated financial system that made so many vulnerable at critical times in their lives. AARP urges the Senate to move for final passage of this important bill as soon as possible.”
