AARP BRINGS SAMANTHA BROWN ON BOARD AS
NEW TRAVEL AMBASSADOR
WASHINGTON (April 15, 2013) – AARP today announced that renowned travel expert Samantha Brown will join its team of experts as the organization’s new Travel Ambassador. In this new role, Ms. Brown will help the 50+ audience reach their number one aspiration (travel) by engaging with them via AARP’s online travel channel, sharing tips, money saving advice and helpful content.
“A big part of our mission is helping our members reach their goals, and Samantha will be a great resource for folks who need guidance in making their travel dreams a reality,” said Emilio Pardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer, AARP. “Samantha is incredibly relatable, engaging, and really knows her stuff. I know our audience will benefit from her expertise.”
Ms. Brown has spent the last 12 years living in airports, hotels and out of a suitcase. Best known as a host for the Travel Channel, she is a self-admitted “airport geek,” has visited over 220 cities in 49 countries and loves to scan the departure boards at airports to see where people are going. Now as part of the AARP family, Ms. Brown will impart tips and tricks she learns along the way to her large fan base. As Travel Ambassador, she will be making regular contributions to AARP’s website; personal appearances and speaking at events; and connecting with AARP’s more than 37 million members through online chats and social media.
“My philosophy is to put as much fun as possible into travel – discovering, learning, and thriving, every step of the way,” said Ms. Brown. “I want to help people reimagine what travel can be and share a tip or two I’ve learned along the way.”
Ms. Brown currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and newborn twins. For access to Ms. Brown’s articles and advice, go to www.aarp.org/travel.
