AARP Foundation Congratulates Rick Hendrick on Milestone Victory in Darlington
“[Rick and Jeff] are still building their legacies, both on and off the track.”
DARLINGTON, SC – AARP Foundation President Jo Ann Jenkins issued the following statement on this weekend’s win in Darlington by Hendrick Motorsports.
“Congratulations to Rick Hendrick and the entire Hendrick Motorsports family for this truly historic victory. It’s only appropriate that Hendrick Motorsports’ 200th victory – a milestone achieved through vision, grit and hard work – should be won on the track ‘too tough to tame.’
“By any measure, Rick Hendrick’s achievements in NASCAR are staggering: 200 race wins, 14 trips to Victory Lane in Darlington, and 10 championships. We’re also proud of the accomplishments of Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet: 85 race victories, 4 championships and 7 wins in Darlington.
“But here are some other numbers that help fill out their accomplishments: since launching Drive to End Hunger in 2011, Rick Hendrick and Jeff Gordon have helped provide almost 7 million meals to help nearly 9 million older Americans who face the threat of hunger every day.
“These two champions are still building their legacies, both on and off the track. Even with so many accomplishments behind them, Rick and Jeff clearly aren’t slowing down, and we’re proud to be driving with them.”
