AARP Supports Simple Reauthorization of Older Americans Act

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Today, AARP Senior Vice President Joyce Rogers released the following statement in support of bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the Older Americans Act (H.R. 3850):

“AARP is pleased Representatives Chris Gibson (R-NY), Tom Reed (R-NY) and Betty McCollum (D-MN) have introduced a bipartisan, simple reauthorization of the Older Americans Act.

“The Older Americans Act is important legislation that provides older adults with vital programs and services as well as needed respite to their family caregivers. Especially as many seniors and their families continue to feel the effects of the Great Recession, the Act’s programs help protect, nourish and sustain American seniors with maximum dignity and independence.

“We encourage Congress to act quickly to reauthorize this important legislation that is so important to millions of vulnerable older Americans.”
