John J. Wider Jr., is the president and CEO of AARP Services, Inc. (ASI), a wholly owned subsidiary of AARP founded in 1999. AARP Services manages the wide range of products and services that are offered as benefits to AARP’s 40 million members. He recently served as executive vice president and co-leader of ASI. Prior to that he was vice president of Health Products and Services for AARP Services, Inc.

Mr. Wider is a member of the AARP and AARP Services Executive Team and AARP and ASI Leadership Team.

Prior to joining AARP Services, he was the COO of Medical Mutual of Ohio, the regional health insurance market leader, and contributed to dramatic earnings improvement and improved claims and customer service. He also led BroadReach Health Services through its early fundraising stages as the company’s president and CEO. Prior to leading BroadReach, Mr. Wider was president of Magellan Behavioral Health, where he dramatically grew revenues and reduced operating expenses. He fulfilled many leadership roles for CIGNA Healthcare as well, including president of Mid-Atlantic and Geographic MarketLeader, area operating officer, vice president Sales for the Midwest, vice president Regional Accounts and Sales. Early in his career he also filled several vice presidential roles for New Jersey Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Horizon).

Mr. Wider earned his bachelor of science in business management from Fairleigh Dickinson University and completed Executive Marketing Programs through Darden and Kellogg. He resides in Edgewater, Maryland, with his wife of 34 years, Linda.
