Carlos Arredondo, originally from Costa Rica, is a peace activist and Red Cross volunteer whose life changed in April 2013 when he helped rescue a victim of the Boston Marathon bombing. Arredondo and his wife, Mélida, were at the marathon to honor their late sons, Alex and Brian, when tragedy struck. After explosions rocked the event, Arredondo reacted like so many in the crowd and ran to help people in need. Jeff Bauman was one of those people and the two men have since formed a lasting bond. The Arredondos continue to be dedicated to causes such as suicide prevention and support for veterans and military families.
