Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch
AARP was proud to present the Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch competition held during Life@50+ in Las Vegas. Health and wellness startup companies had the opportunity to pitch innovative products and services for the 50-plus community to investors and consumers.
Beginning at 3:30 p.m. on May 31, the following companies made their pitches in 10-minute increments:
AdhereTech has created wireless pill bottles that improve medication adherence. These bottles measure the exact number of pills in the bottle in real-time, wirelessly send this HIPAA-compliant data into the cloud and remind patients to take their medication via automated phone call or text message.
Caremerge provides simple mobile/web apps that help simplify care coordination and communication between families and caregivers caring for their elderly loved ones.
CoPatient identifies medical billing errors and negotiates medical debt for consumers. Individuals have few tools or trusted resources to know if the medical bills they receive are accurate. Our Advocates find errors in the majority of bills reviewed, realizing savings of 30-70 percent!
Home Team Therapy uses online video and the Microsoft Kinect sensor to help physical therapy patients exercise at home. We deliver a fully personalized physical rehabilitation experience that is driven by a physical therapist’s medical expertise and coaching.
LabDoor uses science to tell you what’s really in dietary supplements. On iOS and LabDoor.com, consumers scan or search a product for instant A-F grades based on the safety and efficacy of the product. LabDoor reverse-engineers hundreds of products to expose inaccurate labels, contaminated products and false claims.
LifeVest is the “stock” tied to your health. By tying health incentives directly to improved health, we transform the abstract value of health into something concrete: cash. Beyond making wellness smarter and more efficient, LifeVest is changing the way we see our health by changing how we value it.
Lively is developing activity-sharing products for our aging parents and other elder loved ones to stay independent and feel safer living on their own. Co-founders Iggy Fanlo, David Glickman and Keith Dutton have extensive experience bringing innovative, loved consumer products to market. Lively’s offering will be available in July 2013.
SoundFest develops and sells RealClarity, a patent-pending system, consisting of an app and an elegant wireless earpiece to offer a powerful, low-cost solution for hearing assistance. SoundFest is two years old and led by successful entrepreneurs and signal processing experts.
Veristride provides an integrated shoe insole/smartphone/analysis solution that gives users their own information about their movement abilities, including real-time information and feedback. We seek to allow older adults to evaluate, track, and improve mobility and stability in the comfort of their own homes and communities.
Wello lowers the barriers to getting healthy by delivering a convenient and accountable fitness solution. Clients find qualified trainers in an online marketplace and seamlessly schedule, pay for and interact over live, two-way video, either 1-on-1 or with a group using a laptop and webcam.
