Life Reimagined Experience Highlights

Slideshow: Real people share how they have reimagined their lives

At the Spring 2013 Life@50+ National Event and Expo in Las Vegas, Jane Pauley and Alan Webber hosted the Life ReimaginedSM Experience where they interviewed real people who shared stories of how they have reimagined their lives and achieved their "what's next." Life Reimagined Ambassador Emilio Estefan offered inspiration and tips to help the audience of AARP members realize the real possibilities in their lives.

Sculpting a New Life

This 10-ton sand sculpture was created by Life Reimagined “real person” Kirk Rademaker. Rademaker, a former project manager, followed his passion for art and turned a weekend hobby into a fulltime career by becoming a professional sand sculptor. His experience represents following an idea, stepping out of one’s comfort zone and climbing a stairway to positive change. Watch the video of Kirk's story below.

Inspiring the Rhythm of Change

Life Reimagined Ambassador Emilio Estefan joined Jane Pauley and Alan Webber on stage to discuss his role as ambassador. His goal is to inspire others to see new possibilities in their lives by taking risks, thinking big, being open to change, being positive and, above all, doing what they love. Making the Ultimate Rebound

Life Reimagined “real person” Orlando Ward (second from right), shares his story of perseverance and overcoming obstacles. A college basketball standout sidelined by an injury, he became an addict and ended up living on Skid Row. It was there where he had his “trigger” moment that gave him the courage to change. Today, after many years of hard work and support from those around him, he is the executive director of Volunteers of America. Watch the video of Orlando's story below.

Big Wheels and Dancing Shoes

Life Reimagined “real person” John Drury enjoys a laugh with Jane Pauley before leading the audience in a dance fitness routine. As a 6-foot-7 truck driver, he started his Life Reimagined journey when he shed pounds during a weight-loss competition and, in turn, found his purpose. When not behind the wheel of a semi, he’s following his lifelong passion for dance by bringing dance fitness to his community and inspiring others — regardless of age or weight — to get active and stay healthy. Watch the video of John's story below.
