There was something for people of every ability — low-impact to high-impact activities — and at the end of the day, the volunteers left behind a positive and historic mark on the city of Las Vegas and its residents. We offered full-day and half-day opportunities, and all supplies, transportation and project leadership were provided.
In addition to the Community Day of Service on Thursday, AARP Foundation hosted a meal-packing activity on Saturday, June 1, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. AARP Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Jo Ann Jenkins, along with Nevada Congressman Joe Heck, joined the AARP volunteers to help pack 15,000 meals in support of hunger relief efforts across southern Nevada.
