Reed Tuckson, M.D., is executive vice president and chief of medical affairs at UnitedHealth Group. He works with the company’s business units to improve the quality and efficiency of the health services they provide to some 75 million people worldwide. His recent book, Doctor in the Mirror, emphasizes patient empowerment.
Previously, he served as the American Medical Association’s senior vice president of professional standards and as commissioner of public health in the District of Columbia. Tuckson is a graduate of Howard University, Georgetown University School of Medicine and the General Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
