Comedian Bob Newhart has entertained audiences with one-sided telephone conversations and "what if" routines for more than 40 years. His live performances of standards such as “The Driving Instructor” and “The Submarine Commander” are still enjoyed by fans of all ages.
Newhart started his career as an accountant in Chicago. Bored, he called a friend to improvise comedy routines. After hearing his material, Warner Brothers gave him a record contract. The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart became the first comedy album to top the charts. Seven more albums followed.
Newhart has also enjoyed success in television and films and was heralded as an “American Master” in a PBS documentary. His 2006 book, I Shouldn’t Even Be Doing This, became a New York Times best-seller.
* Bob Newhart's appearance will not be a stand-up comedy performance.
