This year, AARP will once again host a large-scale voluntourism project as a kick-off to the Life@50+ National Event and Expo. Come enjoy a day of service as we spread out across the Entertainment Capital of the World, Las Vegas, to leave a lasting legacy in this wonderful city.

On Thursday, May 30, 2013, hundreds of AARP volunteers will

be assembled in groups and transported into neighborhoods of need in and around Las Vegas. Each neighborhood will feature a variety of work opportunities — activities that will support the cultivation of the community: building, home and school refurbishing, landscaping, mentoring, green projects, construction of community gardens, senior community center revitalization — endless possibilities.

There will be something for people of every ability — low-impact to high-impact activities — and at the end of our day, you will leave behind a positive and historic mark on the city of Las Vegas and its residents. We will offer full-day and half-day opportunities, and all supplies, transportation and project leadership will be provided.

If you're not able to join us for one of the outdoor volunteer activities on our community day of service, we will provide opportunities inside Las Vegas Convention Center. In the morning, we will be hosting projects to help combat hunger

and create special artwork to be distributed to local hospitals and
senior centers. In the afternoon, there will be a large meal-packing project where you can volunteer your time and make a difference for
the community.
