Lifestyle Conference Debuts In Charlotte, North Carolina

AARP’s first Lifestyle Conference was a fantastic success and we thank our nearly 1,000 attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and speakers for participating! Held on June 3-4, in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Charlotte Convention Center the event began with the most recognized voice in college basketball, Dick Vitale (former head coach of the Detroit Pistons and currently ESPN’s top college basketball analyst). He told an enthusiastic audience his tips for a healthy lifestyle: setting a goal each day, being passionate about life, making good decisions, and being honest with yourself.

The program continued over two days with speakers and experts on a series of health and wellness topics including proper exercise, dietary habits, understanding medication, taking care of others, sexuality after 50, cognitive health, and much more! The event featured over 30 exhibitors, with an exhibit floor including a golf simulator, a rock climbing wall, makeovers from Dillard’s Department Store and Estee Lauder, and an interactive stage with a variety of different exercise classes. Attendees spent the evening of June 3rd dancing to the Doo Wop / Shag sounds of Bennie Anderson & The Drifters.

Actress and model Mariel Hemingway closed the program Saturday afternoon with a very personal, powerful message about bringing balance into life through nutrition, exercise and quiet time. The event received rave reviews from attendees who found the sessions informative and the single issue format beneficial.
