Futures Forums
AARP's 50th anniversary is about reclaiming the foundation of the American dream. That starts with earnest dialogue among citizens and results in action from employers and government. We're conducting town-hall conferences called Futures Forums on each coast, one in Los Angeles and the other in Washington, D.C. The two-hour forums, moderated by noted experts and journalists, focus on affordable, quality health care and lifetime financial security-issues important to all generations.
Additionally, AARP is underwriting WETA's Washington Week, hosted by Gwen Ifill, throughout 2008. Major cities are welcoming the show as it hits the road for a series of live-audience election specials:
- Los Angeles, February 1 (with Futures Forum)
- Philadelphia, May 9
- Atlanta, June 20
- Denver, August 22, just prior to the Democratic National Convention
- Minneapolis, August 29, just prior to the Republican National Convention
- Washington, D.C., September 5 (with Futures Forum)
