Bob Harper has become one of the most-recognized and popular lifestyle personalities, in the United States and worldwide, thanks to his television appearances. For four years, he has been the fitness trainer on NBC's "The Biggest Loser," giving severely overweight people opportunities to get a physical makeover without surgery. Harper is also the health and fitness expert for "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
Harper has spent more than 10 years in Los Angeles, developing a unique brand of fitness and nutritional integration that leads to lasting lifestyle transformations. Rather than focusing on quick-fix fitness, his Function Training Method™ gives clients educational tools they need to develop lifestyle changes for results that last a lifetime. He teaches clients about the importance of nutrition and exercise, and enriches their lives physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Harper is certified with the American Fitness Training of Athletics and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Stiller, Ellen DeGeneres, Jenny McCarthy and Selma Blair are among the celebrities he has helped get into shape.
In his newest venture, Harper partnered with the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists to launch Diabetes &and You; Step It Up to Get It Down, an educational campaign designed to help Americans manage Type 2 diabetes better through healthy eating, proper exercise and blood-sugar monitoring.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., Harper now resides in Los Angeles. He is an avid photographer and enjoys tennis, cycling, running and snowboarding.
