AARP Associate Director of Media Relations Cecelia Prewett made the following statement about tonight's CNN / YouTube debate:
"Tonight's debate was an opportunity for a serious discussion about the top domestic issues facing all Americans - their health and financial security. The candidates broadly discussed these issues, talking about the importance of the future of Social Security and the need for providing comprehensive health coverage in this country.
"While the candidates took the opportunity to discuss their views on these issues, as well as decrying the partisan gridlock in Washington, it is time to focus more attention on getting action, answers and accountability on these issues and begin to talk about ways to bridge the partisan divide and to find solutions that can benefit all Americans."
AARP and Divided We Fail are monitoring the number of health and financial security questions asked during the Presidential debates. For more information about Divided We Fail and the debate, log onto the Divided We Fail debate tracker at www.dividedwefail.org.
