For adults ages 45 and older, sexuality goes way beyond the bedroom. According to the newest AARP study, Sexuality at Midlife and Beyond, sex is an important component of relationships that impacts quality of life.
The nationally representative survey gauges the sexual attitudes of people over 45, and is a follow up to the landmark study that first appeared in AARP The Magazine (then Modern Maturity) in 1999.
To coincide with the new survey, AARP The Magazine’s Website, www.aarpmagazine.org, is launching a new relationship section that will include features such as:
- Polls - Cast your vote for the 50 sexiest people over 50
- Personal Ad Maker - An interactive feature that helps you write a compelling personal ad
- Message Boards - Topics will include a list of places to go on a first date, dating tips, as well as dating horror stories
- Video - Three couples who have been married 50 years or more share their success secrets
"People are looking for information about sex, dating, love and marriage that will help them achieve and sustain healthy, life-enhancing relationships," says Robert Long, Website editor. "We hope that the features, tools and community opportunities that we offer on our Website will be both fun and informative. We see our new relationship section as a much-needed alternative to much of what is currently available on the Web."
