WASHINGTON – AARP released a statement today after the House of Representatives renewed its efforts to reauthorize and expand the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The statement, from AARP Director of Government Relations David Sloane, follows:

“We applaud lawmakers from both parties for passing the revised children’s health insurance bill by such a wide, bipartisan margin, and urge the Senate to follow suit with a big bipartisan vote. Given changes that have been made to address policy concerns expressed by the Administration, we urge the President to sign the revised bill. CHIP is a smart, affordable step to improve the health of this country, and 10 million of our children and grandchildren are counting on Washington to do the right thing.”
