Washington, DC - Tomorrow, AARP will premier a new component of its Get Out the Vote campaign — a cutting edge, online video that reveals the organization’s pick on November 4.

AARP is sending millions of personalized, online videos to its E-activists who will be the first to experience the video. The 60-second video features a “man on the street” who turns to his fellow Americans in order to find out who will break gridlock in Washington. He does not get the expected response. After watching the video, viewers will be asked to “take action” by pledging to vote on or before Election Day.

The video can be viewed, starting tomorrow, October 21, here: www.aarpvote08.org.

“As we come down to the final few weeks of the campaign and the number of undecided voters continues to shrink, it’s critically important that AARP do everything it can to make sure people stay excited about voting through Election Day,” said AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond. “This is a fun, interesting way to emphasize the importance of having leaders who can rise above the partisan atmosphere and deliver on their promises. With political coverage invading voters’ lives 24/7, it’s also critical that voters don’t get fatigued by all the ads and events and that they stay motivated to vote on November 4th. This video is just another way to help do that.”

In the weeks leading up to the video launch, AARP has released a collection of on and offline efforts to educate its supporters about the election. This has included resources on early voting, a nationwide voter guide, and opportunities to go to AARP’s online community to discuss the presidential debates.
