Welcome to Live & Learn online!
THIS IS THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY of NRTA's With Our Youth! awards where we recognize outstanding volunteer efforts with youth. If you or someone you know is deserving of recognition, I hope you will read on.
NRTA: AARP's Educator Community is celebrating a decade of awards. Founded in 1997 in response to the Presidents' Summit for America's Future, NRTA's With Our Youth! program has sought to provide youth with five key resources: an ongoing relationship with a caring adult, a healthy start in life, safe places to learn and grow, a marketable skill through effective education, and an opportunity to give back through community service.
Since 1999, the program has reached more than 2.5 million young people in more than 42 states. Each year awards are given in three categories: statewide retired educator association projects, local retired educator association unit/chapter projects, and individual efforts.
To nominate a group or an individual for this year's With Our Youth! awards, please use the nomination form (or see below).
The deadline for submitting your nomination form is June 8, 2009. If you have questions about the award program, you may telephone NRTA at 202.434.2380.
With best regards,
Megan
