Welcome to Live & Learn Online!

NRTA: AARP’s Educator Community works closely with a network of Retired Educator Associations (REAs) across the country. Recently I received word about the great work done by the West Virginia Area Retired School Employees that I want to share.

In 2008, many West Virginia retired educators and school personnel were involved in raising awareness among Presidential candidates and others running for office about the importance of affordable, quality healthcare and financial security for all Americans. REA members attended forums and rallies to determine where the candidates stood on those critical issues which are the backbone of AARP’s bipartisan Divided We Fail initiative. REA members shared information about the key issues with people in nursing homes, senior centers and neighborhood associations.

These West Virginia educators also served their community through consumer education and protection classes, Health & Fitness Expos, and numerous multigenerational programs. If you are looking for ways to help address healthcare and financial security issues in our country, I encourage you to visit: www.dividedwefail.org.

Given the time, energy, and effort these retirees provided during their teaching careers, I appreciate the opportunity to share their accomplishments in what is a very active state of “retirement.”

With best regards,
Megan
