What is Chicago Stepping?
- Originally created in Chicago’s predominately African American neighborhoods, the dance has morphed from its beginnings with the Jitterbug, Offtime, the Walk and Chicago Bop.
- Today Chicago Stepping is now more widely known than it’s ever been. “Stepper Sets” have been popularized by R. Kelly’s “Step in the Name of Love” and has shown the world the Stepper’s style.
Tom Joyner’s Stepping Contest Procedures:
- Come down and sign-up for the Tom Joyner Stepping Contest on Saturday June 6th at 1:30pm.
- You must sign up at registration on Friday between 12 noon – 6:00 p.m. or Saturday between 9 a.m. – 12 noon
- Come ready to show us your moves!
