Actor Steve Guttenberg has been a leading man—not only in the movies, but in the lives of foster children who had nowhere else to turn.
In addition to his work in highly rated TV projects, Guttenberg has appeared in more than 50 films. His most recent productions include "Major Movie Star," in which he plays the Hollywood agent of an actress (played by Jessica Simpson) who becomes a Marine Corps recruit. He also completed two independent feature productions, the German thriller, "Fatal Rescue," and "Cornered," in which he portrayed a serial killer.
Other big-screen successes include "Police Academy," "Three Men and a Baby," "Short Circuit," and Ron Howard’s "Cocoon," and the sequels to those movies.
In addition to recurring guest-star roles on the hit-TV show, "Veronica Mars," Guttenberg showed his style on ABC’s "Dancing with the Stars."
Close to his heart is the Guttenhouse Project, which children phasing out of foster-care programs can call home. Guttenberg is also raising $7 million to provide eyeglasses for 50,000 sight-challenged youngsters whose families cannot afford eye care.
