Remember late last summer, when a gallon of gas hovered around $4? Stephen Goss, chief actuary of the Social Security Administration, joins us to explain why that spike is one of the reasons social security benefits next year won’t include a COLA, or cost-of-living adjustment.
And while social security benefits won’t rise, Medicare premiums will. Tricia Neuman, vice president and director of the Medicare Policy Project at the Kaiser Family Foundation, also joins us to tell us who- and who won’t- pay for that increased premium out-of-pocket.
Goss and Neuman also discuss President Obama’s proposal to give seniors $250 each to make up for the lack of COLA next year. Prime Time Radio host Mike Cuthbert asks all the right questions, including who will pay for those checks.
