We’ve all heard clever put downs and witty cheap shots – but David Denby, film critic for The New Yorker magazine, says it’s getting out of hand.

He’s named these obnoxious snide comments "snarks" and says that “snarkers are weakening intellectual engagement and it’s spreading like pink-eye through both mainstream media and the Internet.”

Today, he shares his research and tells host Mike Cuthbert why he thinks snarky comments and attitudes are harming our society.
