While many of us would like to know more about our forebears, few take the time to return to our family’s ancestral home searching for our roots. And fewer still have the tools to turn that quest into art.

Independent producer Jean Di Marino followed documentary photographer Susanna Lucia Lamaina to a remote village in the Italian mountains, where Lamaina sought to embrace the land her family once roamed, and document a vanishing way of life.
