In the early 1960s, screen legends Debbie Reynolds, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Gregory Peck and Henry Fonda came together in the epic family drama, "How the West was Won." Movies for Grownups' Bill Newcott revisits a three-disc DVD release of the film, which won three Oscars in 1964 for editing, writing and sound.

Newcott explains the "cinerama" technique of the 1950s and '60s which called for the film to be shot with three cameras and presented across three giant screens in movie theaters. Press play on the audio player to hear lush excerpts from this classic western.
