AARP Utah Presents: ÒGraying With Grace in UtahÓ
Source: AARP.org | July 22, 2004
AARP Utah, in conjunction with White Rabbit Productions of Salt Lake City, is presenting a quarterly series of documentary and information programs. AARP Utah is working with community experts to present messages pertinent to the aging experience in Utah. The first program that airs eight times on KSL TV in July 2004 is co-sponsored by the Utah State Division of Aging and Adult Services.
"Graying With Grace in Utah" will be a 30-minute program that will explore real families and the real problems they face when a loved one is aging in our community.
More than 54 million American families are involved in the care of loved ones who are elderly or ill. And millions more will be affected in the years to come. Many of us are currently caregivers, will become one, or be cared for.
"Graying With Grace in Utah" will offer meaningful information to adult children and their parents about the common problems surrounding growing older in our community. When is it time to take a more active role in an aging parent's life? Where do you start? What do you do? What if they're not receptive? Who can you trust for advice and guidance?
Accurate and non-biased information is critical in shaping a family's decisions. Aging with dignity and assuring quality of life are fundamental as individuals consider their options. Understanding what resources are available, how to access them, and analyzing the financial implications while protecting the integrity and privacy of the individual is paramount.
These programs will draw on the expertise of service providers as they offer practical insights and options. Specific solutions will be left up to the viewing public as they collect and process the information provided. AARP Utah and its community partners hope to provide practical and meaningful guidance that will assist Utah families dealing with emotional and practical issues as our loved ones age.
AARP Utah is fortunate to be working with Sam Prigg of White Rabbit Productions. Prigg started his professional career with Channel 5, an NBC affiliate news station. The camera has taken Sam to all four corners of the globe - from Africa to Russia (where he worked for National Geographic), the BBC, CNN and the Discovery Channel.
AARP Utah wishes to thank Sam and his White Rabbit team of Matt Abron, Janice Evans, Dominick…. and the many other talented members of the crew.
