Proclamation-Pepco Day

WHEREAS Pepco recognizes that a major shift is taking place in the Washington Metropolitan Area and throughout our nation -- the workforce is aging, making mature workers key to the company's future success.
WHEREAS Pepco has adopted exemplary policies to expand opportunity for older workers and been recognized by AARP, after a rigorous evaluation process, as a 2005 Best Employer for Workers Over 50.
WHEREAS Pepco has demonstrated its respect for retiree knowledge, skill and experience by making it possible for retirees to work full or part time and maintain their pension and medical benefits.
WHEREAS Pepco also offers opportunities for training, education and career development; alternative work options; and a range of health employee health and financial benefits.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, THE MAYOR OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, do hereby proclaim September 26, 2005 as "Pepco Day" in Washington, D.C., and call upon all the residents of this great city to join me in thanking this distinguished employer for its best practices to expand opportunity for mature workers.
