Message from Alaska State President

I welcome you to AARP Alaska's Web site. AARP offers this site to provide up-to-date information regarding the issues and events that affect not only our 91,000 members in Alaska, but all Alaskans. This site provides one portal into the wealth of information that AARP offers electronically; however, we continue to offer mailed information to our members who do not have easy access to the Internet.
One of this country's most pressing issues to access to health care. AARP is leading an effort called Divided We Fail that will rally our 38 million members, their families, and the American people to demand actions, answers, and accountability from our leaders. Our goal is to propel bipartisan, common sense solutions to our health and lifetime financial security challenges.
AARP believes:
- our current healthcare system in the U.S. is broken;
- each of us has a right to quality, affordable health care;
- business, government and individuals all have a part to play in guaranteeing health care;
- securing access to affordable, quality health care should not create costs that burden future generations;
- it is time to end the gridlock by coming together and working toward solutions that provide each of us quality affordable healthcare; and
- and the time for action is now.
