"We are delighted that Earl has agreed to serve as our state president for the next two years, and we know the AARP goals and vision will be enhanced greatly through his leadership and expertise," said AARP Louisiana State Director Patricia DeMichele. "Seniors and many other citizens throughout the state will be the true beneficiaries of his guidance and direction."

In accepting the state leadership role, White stated, "AARP has been one of the most effective voices for those over 50 in this country". "I want to continue that effectiveness and enhance an atmosphere in AARP that will bring all people of the state into the fold. In addition, I want to build upon what we already have and make it available to all."

White, a graduate of Southern University and the University of Oklahoma, has served as deputy director of the Port of South Louisiana and executive director of the St. James Department of Human Resources. He began his career as a teacher and coach in St. James and Ascension Parishes and worked in area industry.

White is very active in community, religious and civic endeavors, earning a number of honors including the Outstanding Community Service Award from the Louisiana Association of Community Action Agencies and being named an Honorary Citizen of Baton Rouge.

He and his wife Audrey reside in Lutcher and are the proud parents of two children, Terence and Charmaine.
