AARP has a history of delivering to people what they want and need to make their lives better. For almost 50 years we have used the power of people - today more than 38 million strong - to improve the things our members and society care about and to enhance the public good. We are working hard to make affordable health care available for all, to strengthen Social Security, to make prescription drugs more affordable, create incentives to save for retirement and expand job opportunities so that people can keep working and contributing to society as they age. Today's actions will enable us to accelerate our efforts to make these goals a reality.

AARP Health AID - Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere

AARP commits $500 million over the next decade to create and develop innovative ways to help individuals navigate our fragmented health system and better meet their health needs. This initiative which will help anyone, anytime, anywhere is called AARP Health AID (Answers and Information Delivery).

Today, people are swimming in information, but often failing to find the right answer to their health questions. Millions of Americans have expressed their frustration in trying to find information that is accurate and relevant, timely and understandable.

People are frustrated when they need health information, assistance, or services quickly and they can't get a live voice on the phone or find the right site on the web. This initiative will be designed to solve that problem. AARP Health AID will be free and available to everyone and will provide them with important information that they need in a timely manner.

In the coming months, AARP will:

  • Identify innovative approaches to guiding people through the health care system
  • Establish partnerships with other organizations to leverage and deliver this service
  • Develop the use of trained volunteers to deliver local, personalized information

This effort is intended to provide people with information about the health topics that matter the most to them, such as:

  • Remote caregiving
  • Arranging long term care services and supports
  • Health price and quality information

Getting the right information is often the missing link in improving health care. With this initiative, we'll provide that link.
