Weeknight and Weekend Courses Added in Sussex County

AARP isn't the American Association of Retired Persons anymore. Why? Because more than half of our 35 million members are still working! So, if driver refresher classes offered mid-week during the day won't work into your schedule, come to Sussex County. Now you'll find AARP Driver Safety courses offered at Del Tech's Adults Plus in Georgetown on weeknights and weekends.

"We want to make it convenient for working Delawareans to take advantage of AARP's popular Driver Safety Program," said Bob Carter, AARP assistant state coordinator in Sussex County. "We're excited about adding eight-hour basic courses on weeknights and our new four-hour refresher on Saturdays to our line-up."

Last year, nearly 4,500 Delawareans qualified for lower automobile insurance premiums after attending AARP's Driver Safety Program. But, saving money isn't the only reason Delaware drivers should attend the nation's first and largest classroom driver improvement course designed for motorists age 50 and older. Participants will learn about defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws, rules of the road and much more. You'll find out how to adjust your driving to age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time—all without taking a test.

And in Delaware, those who complete the basic eight-hour certification course are entitled to up to a 10% reduction in personal liability and no-fault insurance premiums for three years. Basic classes are conducted over a two-day period, four hours per day. A 15% discount is available to those who repeat the program in three years—now available through a four-hour refresher course.

Registration forms for the classes, limited to 35 students, must be turned in 10 days prior to the class start. The $10-per-person fee may be by check or money order made out to AARP. To register, please contact Del Tech by calling (302) 856-5618.
