AARP West Virginia was a proud sponsor of the state's oldest and largest multicultural celebration at the West Virginia State Capitol Complex.
"Multifest is one of West Virginia's most beloved annual celebrations," said AARP West Virginia State Director Frank Bellinetti. "It is a free family-oriented event highlighting cultural diversity."
AARP volunteers were on hand each evening of the festival August 3-5 to pass out handheld fans and cold bottled water to festival-goers. The volunteers also provided information about AARP's Divided We Fail initiative, collected stories about health care and long-term financial security and asked voters to sign the Divided We Fail pledge.
Divided We Fail is AARP's national effort to raise the voices of millions of Americans who believe that health care and lifetime financial security are the most pressing domestic issues facing our nation. Together we will demand action, answers and accountability from our nation's leaders and common sense solutions that recognize that individuals, business and government all have a role and a responsibility in securing health care and lifetime financial security.
"Too many Americans are worried about their financial and health security and their children's future," said Sylvia Watkins, the West Virginia Divided We Fail Volunteer Campaign Leader. "By raising the voices of millions of Americans, we will demand action, answers and accountability from our nation's leaders."
