AARP members from across Massachusetts join a star-studded lineup during Life@50+ | AARP's National Event & Expo at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, Sept. 6-8. They appear as Silver Stars, and perform in the After Dark Cabaret, one of many entertainment options offered nightly during Life@50+.

Silver Stars

Dual-lingual vocalist Geneva Seerattan from Brockton- and more than 70 other amateur performers - recently took the stage at the largest audition in Silver Stars' three-year history.

"It's something you dream about," said Seerattan, who sings in Cape Verdean Creole to her family and friends, but enjoys singing jazz standards in English. "I'm so excited I can't even put it into words. I'm on cloud 10!"

From the auditions, AARP selected 19 talented acts, dubbed Silver Stars, to perform at Life@50+. The cabaret-style show will feature a varied lineup of comedians, tap dancers, pianists, as well as vocalists invoking everything from the sultry tones of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra to Motown and the rock and roll legends of the 1950s and 1960s.

After Dark Cabaret

"Our cabaret is a revival of Boston's intimate post-war nightclub scene of the late 1940s and early 1950s," explained Marty Davis, producer of AARP's After Dark Cabaret. "We were also inspired by Hollywood's golden age, when nightclubs offered a more sophisticated evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment."

AARP's Silver Stars perform nightly during Life@50+, from 10 p.m. - 11:30 p.m., in the After Dark Cabaret. Other evening entertainment includes concerts, AARP Studio 50+ Nightclubs featuring R&B;, Latin Fusion and disco, and the After Dark Ultra Lounge.
