Confused about Medicare prescription drug coverage? Attend one of the Medicare enrollment events that the AARP Colorado State Office is holding across the state.

AARP chapters, the Colorado Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) and local Area Agencies on Aging are also sponsoring these events. The Medicare Part D plan has delivered substantial savings to millions of beneficiaries, but to get the most out of the benefit it is crucial that participants choose the plan that best fits their needs. Individual prescription needs change from year to year, as do the features of the Part D plans offered in Colorado.

The AARP enrollment events will provide up-to-date information to people who are newly eligible for Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. People who are already enrolled and need to evaluate whether their plan is still the best fit for their needs can also participate.

Trained Counselors Will Offer Personalized Assistance
Information will be available on the low-income supplement, which can provide reduced or free prescription drug assistance to beneficiaries with low income. Everyone who is currently enrolled in a Part D plan will have the opportunity to change plans between Nov. 15 and Dec. 31, 2007. If you aren't sure how to compare plans to figure out which one is right for you, you don't have to do it on your own.

Medicare counselors trained by the Colorado SHIP will be available at all the enrollment events and will provide participants with individual counseling and the latest information. Simply gather your medications list, bring your Medicare card and attend one of the events - or call the SHIP assistance line toll free at 1-888-696-7213.
