Arizona: About Your State Office

Welcome to AARP Arizona's Web site, where you will find the latest information about our activities across the state, as well as important resources and community links to those we work with on behalf of AARP members in Arizona.
I invite you to surf our site and learn about our advocacy efforts and community service programs. You will also find opportunities to get involved as an AARP volunteer to make a difference in communities near you.
The AARP Arizona State Office is located in Phoenix, and has a full-time staff of eight. We also have a network of about 100 dedicated AARP volunteers who assist the staff, giving their time to help improve the quality of life in Arizona for all of us as we age.
AARP is involved in many issues. Through our Divided We Fail campaign, we are working to raise awareness of the need for health and long-term financial security. We are working to promote broad-based, bipartisan solutions to these challenges with the American people, elected officials and the business community. We are working to make prescription drugs more affordable, and continue to work towards solutions to achieve Social Security solvency.
On the state level, our advocacy efforts include working to protect aging services, supporting adequate funding for state agencies that regulate nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and we continue to work on consumer protection issues like identity theft and internet fraud.
AARP's community service programs in Arizona are also flourishing. Hundreds of AARP volunteers help seniors file their taxes as part of the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program. AARP's Driver Safety program holds scores of classes across the state, teaching people over 50 safe driving techniques. And the AARP Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is established in Maricopa County to provide temporary work assignments for people over 55. We also have a group of dedicated volunteers who staff our AARP Tucson Information Center in Tucson.
AARP is making a difference in Arizona by advocating on senior issues at the state capitol, providing services and local programs, and offering people rewarding ways to volunteer.
I invite you to become a part of this dynamic organization by volunteering with AARP. Please join us, because collectively we have the power to make it better!
