Workforce Programs

AARP Foundation supports mature workers as they remain in or re-enter the work force. Our goal is to provide mature workers with informed choices regarding their employment interests and options, to assist them with meeting their employment goals and to help them gain increased financial security.

Here are the two employment-oriented programs within AARP Foundation that provide direct services to individual seeking employment:

Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) provides a wide variety of training, skill enhancement and skills assessment opportunities for eligible 55 or older individuals who are at or below 125 percent of the federal poverty level and who are serious job seekers.

The program is authorized under Title V of the Older Americans Act and is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. It is administered through AARP Foundation, an affiliated 501(c)(3) nonpartisan charitable organization of AARP, established in 1961. AARP SCSEP operates nearly 100 project offices in 22 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

WorkSearch Program provides community-level job and career information and skills assessment services to individuals who are seeking to remain in or re-enter the work force, but who do not qualify
for SCSEP.
