Imagine what it is like to go into a grocery store with a limited budget and little food shopping knowledge.

AARP Foundation's Cooking Matters at the Store teaches food shopping and nutrition education skills through informative grocery store tours led by trained volunteers. Sign up today to be a tour leader in your community and help people gain the skills they need to live a healthy lifestyle.

Volunteers lead interactive, guided grocery store tours that help people in low-income households learn to purchase healthier foods on a limited budget. Tour leaders empower participants with four key food skills: reading food labels, understanding unit pricing, identifying foods rich in whole grains and comparing different options for purchasing produce.

If you like helping people hands-on and have an interest in making a difference in your community, we invite you to join us.

We are looking for energetic, engaging people who are able to communicate basic information about the key topics. If you have been a teacher, worked in health care or nutrition or have strong communication skills, please consider joining us.
