Patricia D. Shannon

Senior Vice President, Operations
and Chief Financial Officer

Patricia D. Shannon (Trish) is the Senior Vice President Operations and Chief Financial Officer for AARP Foundation.   She leads the overall Foundation efforts in finance, operations, integration, planning, board support, human resources and facilities.  The team’s primary focus is to:

  • Provide leadership for cross functional improvements, innovation and operational efficiencies
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure that outputs and outcomes are aligned with the Foundation’s strategic and financial plan and priorities
  • Provide guidance and counsel on business systems, policies and processes so that the Foundation is able to achieve its mission

Trish has over 25 years of experience in accounting, financial and operational management, specializing, for the last 18 years, in non-profit management and international development. 

Prior to joining the Foundation she was the Vice President, Finance & Administration for CEDPA, an international non-profit focusing on women’s rights and health issues.  She was also the Director of Internal Audit at CARE (the world’s largest international development and relief organization) where she successfully established and developed the internal audit function serving headquarters and over 40 country offices throughout the developing world.  She began her career with the public accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in New York, NY and Sydney, Australia.   She has traveled extensively throughout the developing world working with local non-profit organizations to improve financial management and internal controls.

Trish has a passion for working to improve the lives of others.  Throughout her career she has worked to promote best practices and effective solutions to business problems in order to create efficiencies and streamline operations for greater program impact.

Trish is a Certified Public Accountant with an MBA and a BS in Accounting.
