More than 8 million older adults are socially isolated, a condition that research indicates put them at risk of poor health.
We’re looking at all the connections that make up a person’s life, and are coming up with ways to make sure connections stay strong, even in times of stress and crisis.
Strategic Plan Goals
We’re seeking evidence-based interventions that:
- Reduce poor health outcomes due to lack of connection
- Reduce visits to the emergency room due to unaddressed health issued caused by lack of connectedness
AARP Foundation commissioned the first in-depth research study to define the depth and scope of the 50+ isolation problem. Our goal is to generate new insights and more effective programs that reconnect isolated individuals to their families and communities.
We collaborate with grantee and partner organizations to develop proposals that align with our four impact areas and address our strategic objectives. Learn more about current grant opportunities.
